ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Anchorage police on Wednesday released the names of two officers who were involved in a weekend shootout with a 16-year-old boy.
The officers were identified as Clinton Peck, 27, and Kevin Armstrong, 31. Peck has worked for the department since 1995, and Armstrong since 1997, according to a police press release. They are scheduled to return to work tomorrow (Thursday) following a routine administrative leave.
The teenager, Lamar Facine, was wounded in the shooting, which took place in east Anchorage early Sunday morning. He is expected to survive but may end up blinded, police have said.
Police were called by a resident reporting that someone had been firing a rifle. When police arrived, Facine reportedly fired a shot and struck the patrol car. The two officers fired back.
Police said they don't know what touched off the shootings.
The boy suffered gunshot wounds to the head and arm. Police have said one of the wounds may have been self-inflicted.
