PORTLAND, Ore. -- Derek Anderson scored 29 points and Tim Duncan had 16 rebounds as the San Antonio Spurs used a 23-6 run to open the third quarter and rout the Portland Trail Blazers 93-79 Thursday night.
The latest showdown between two of the West's best teams further jumbled the tight playoff race in the conference as the Spurs moved within a half-game of Utah for the Midwest Division lead.
Meanwhile, Portland fell from second-best in the conference to fifth.

HOUSTON -- Cuttino Mobley scored 16 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter and Steve Francis had 22 points and a season-high 15 rebounds in Houston's come-from-behind win.
Maurice Taylor, who had scored only seven and 16 points in the Rockets' two losses to his former team earlier this season, added 21 points as the Rockets matched last season's win total (34) and three games back of Phoenix for the last playoff spot in the West.
Hornets 97, Magic 84
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Baron Davis had 23 points and nine assists as the Charlotte Hornets, playing without leading scorer Jamal Mashburn, beat Orlando.
