Speaker series returns with bear talk

The Kenai River Center-Kenai Watershed Forum Winter Speaker Series continues at 7 p.m. Tuesday with Living with Bears, with speaker Larry Lewis from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. The event will be held at the Kenai River Center, Mile 1.6 of Funny River Road in Soldotna.

Labyrinth available

Central Peninsula Hospital's Spiritual Care Services is planning a labyrinth walk. It will be open in the afternoons March 16 through 20 at the old Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Redoubt Avenue in Soldotna. Participants may enter by the front door facing Redoubt. Caregiver meetings offered

The National Family Caregiver Support Program will hold the following meetings:

* Kenai From 1 to 3 p.m. March 17 a presentation on "Dementia: Communicating and Relating" will be held at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center. Julie Beatty of Alzheimer's Resource Agency of Alaska will be the featured speaker.

* Soldotna From to 1 to 3 p.m. March 25 a caregiver support meeting will be held at the Soldotna Senior Citizens Center.

Autism to be discussed

Doctor Susan Hepburn will give a free presentation on autism from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center. It is open to the public. For more information, call The Alaska Autism Resource Center at 866-301-7372.

Cancer fundraiser a cut above

Volunteers for the cancer fundraiser St. Baldricks will have their hair cut at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Soldotna Sports Center. To register log on to www.stbaldricks.org. For more information, call Ben Simonds at 262-4792.

St. Baldrick's is a volunteer-driven fundraising event for childhood cancer research. Volunteers shave their heads in solidarity of children with cancer, while requesting donations of support from friends and family.

T-200 meeting set

The Tustumena Sled Dog Race Association will meet at 7 p.m. March 27 at The Riverside House in Soldotna. Nominations for officers, three board members and a musher representative are on the agenda.
