JUNEAU (AP) -- The state's Permanent Fund Division has installed on online application system that will allow Alaskans to apply for dividends via the Internet.
''Since Alaska has the highest rate of residents who are connected to the Internet, and each receives a dividend, bringing the PFD application process online is a natural,'' said Gov. Tony Knowles.
Applications will be available on the dividend home page, www.revenue.state.ak.us/pfd.
To file, users must download and install the Internet Forms Viewer from the dividend home page. The page contains instructions for choosing adult or child applications and will not allow them to be sent in if required information is missing.
The application is supposed to take less than two minute to complete.
Each submitted application generates a signature page that confirms the application was successfully transmitted. A copy of the signature page must be signed and mailed to the Permanent Fund Dividend Division.
The deadline for filing remains the same, March 31. PFD Division Director Nanci Jones said late applications are automatically denied.
