Oilers round out staff
The Oilers staff for the 2000 season has been completed with the signing of Jason Wolfe as trainer.
Wolfe works with the Boilermakers baseball team and will be graduating from Purdue University in May with a degree in athletic training. Wolfe also has worked as an athletic trainer with the Denver Broncos of the National Football League and at Calumet High School in Gary, Ind. Wolfe is 24 years old, single and is originally from western Pennsylvania.
Jim Anderson, a freshman catcher at the University of California Riverside, has three home runs, eight runs batted in and a batting average of .320 in the Highlanders first seven games. Teammate Ben Washburn, a junior pitcher, has two wins in as many starts, including one complete-game victory.
The deadline for applications for the five annual college scholarships to be awarded borough-wide by the Oilers is April 17. For information, call the Oilers at 283-7133 or come by the office at the corner of Cook and Main Streets in Kenai.
