Kenai boys cruise past Homer

The Kenai Central High School boys basketball team capped its regular season with a 58-33 win at Homer in Region III/4A play Saturday.

Marcus Webster led the Kardinals with 24 points while Steven Stead netted eight for the Mariners.

Kenai girls 53, Homer 30

Karli Knudsen knocked down 17 points, including a trio of treys, to lead the Kardinals to a Region III/4A win at Homer in the season finale for both teams.

Ten of 12 players on the Kenai roster found their way into the scoring column for the Kardinals. Channing Setterquist paced the Mariners with 12 points.

Nikiski girls 51, Heritage 33

The Bulldogs capped their regular season with a District 3/3A win over Heritage Christian in Anchorage.

Karen Rabung paced the Bulldogs with 27 points while Amanda Weaver scored 12.

Heritage Christian Boys 63, Nikiski 61, OT

The Nikiski boys dropped an overtime heartbreaker to Heritage Christian in District 3/3A play Saturday in Anchorage.

Jeremiah Taylor scored 17 points for the Bulldogs, including all eight of Nikiski's points in the overtime period. David Holloway finished with 13 points for the Bulldogs, as did Rustin Hitchcock.

The Bulldogs and the Eagles matched each other shot for shot and were tied at 26 at the half. The teams were knotted at 47 at the end of regulation.

Box scores for Nikiski's games will be available in Monday's Clarion.

ACS boys 76, Nikiski 59

The Nikiski High School boys basketball team dropped a District 3/3A game at Anchorage Christian Schools Friday.

David Holloway led the Bulldogs with 33 points and Jeremiah Taylor netted 10, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Lions.

The Bulldogs kept their perfect District 3/3A record intact with a win over Anchorage Christian Schools Friday.

Sally Glaze led the Bulldogs with 17 points and Karen Rabung poured in 16 points while April Lofstedt scored 13 and Amanda Weaver finished with 12 points for the Bulldogs.
