Tuntutliak man killed on Anchorage street

ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A man from the western Alaska village of Tuntutliak died Saturday after he was struck by a car in East Anchorage.

John W. Lupie, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anchorage police said Lupie tried to cross DeBarr Road at 10:45 a.m. He was headed north and standing on the raised median separating traffic.

When he stepped off the median, police said, he was struck by a westbound Dodge Neon driven by Nicole Manglona, 18.

Police said the traffic light was green for Manglona. She was uninjured.

No citations have been issued.
