Education group to discuss child needs
The Kenai Association for the Education of Young Children will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Learning Center at Kenai Peninsula College. The meeting will include a viewing of the video, "Ten things every child needs," as well as craft ideas with a green theme.
The group meets the second Monday of each month to assure the provision of high quality early childhood programs for young children. Parents, teachers, child care providers and anyone else interested in the care and education of young children is welcome. Refreshments are provided at meetings. TOTE rep to speak at Soldotna chamber

Photographers guild plans meeting

Era rep to speak at Kenai chamber

DOT to discuss bridge project
Representatives of the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities will be in Soldotna on Wednesday to discuss the Soldotna Urban-Kenai River Bridge Project, scheduled for construction in 2004 and 2005. The public is invited to view concept drawings for the bridge, landscaping, sedimentation basin and intersection improvements. The meeting will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Soldotna Sports Center.

Charter school lottery deadline nears
The Aurora Borealis Charter School, a public school in the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District, will conduct an enrollment lottery April 8 to determine the 2003-04 school year placement of students on the waiting list. Applications and copies of the enrollment and lottery procedures are available at the school office from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Applications must be delivered in person by 4 p.m. Friday. Lottery results will be posted at the school April 21.
Showin' Off the Kids this weekend
The Showin' Off the Kids lip sync and choreography contest will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Soldotna High School auditorium. The contest is sponsored by Soldotna Community Schools and is a fund-raiser for its summer youth programs. Tickets, available at the door, are $3 for students and $5 for adults.
A full dress rehearsal for all contestants will be at 4 p.m. Friday, also at the auditorium.
Scholarship program set for Saturday
The Alaska National Teen-ager Scholarship Program will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Renee C. Henderson Auditorium at Kenai Central High School.
Admission is free for parents of finalists, $12 for adults, and $8 for children under 5 or seniors over 65.
Women's brunch planned
The Peninsula Take a Break will host a brunch for all women March 25 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Solid Rock Conference Center. The speaker will be Barb Robek, Krissi Painter Alsworth will sing, and Annette Meyer will present unique ways to preserve photos. Cost of the brunch is $7, and free child care is available.
