Show featuring Soldotna teen to air Thursday

Posted: Wednesday, March 10, 2004

An episode of the television show "Switched" featuring Skyview High School senior Amber Spauld-ing is scheduled to air Thursday.

The reality show lets two teenagers from different parts of the country trade lives for a few days. The teens go to each other's schools, hang out with each other's friends and live with each other's families, while the show's film crew tags along and records the results.

Amber switched with Ben Jackson of La Crescenta, Calif., near Pasadena, in January. She learned to play guitar, judged mock band auditions and played "ex-treme miniature golf" with Ben's friends in Southern Californ-ia. Ben learned how to mush, skijor, snowmachine and ice fish on the Kenai Peninsula with her friends.

Amber is planning a viewing party Thursday afternoon with her friends who were on the show, according to Amber's mother, GemiLea Spaulding.

The episode is scheduled to air at 4 p.m. on ABC Family, cable channel 20.
