Sophomore Nicole Osmar claimed the Junior Iditarod championship. She has competed in this event twice before. This year she came in nine minutes in front of the runner-up.

Adam Byrne and Austin Vanderford both took first in their weight classes, 132 and 110 pounds, respectively, at the junior high wrestling borough competition. Both boys will be competing in Fairbanks at the state junior high wrestling competition.

College Awareness Day will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday. Students in kindergarten through eighth-grade will have different activities to help make them aware of college in general. High-schoolers will have local speakers who are either attending college or have graduated come in to talk about their college experiences. Community members interested in speaking can call Shirley Chihuly at (907) 567-3301.
