Area chambers set schedules

Merrill Sikorski and Marit Hartvigson will speak at noon today at the Nikiski Chamber of Commerce luncheon at Ohana's Family Restaurant. The topic will be the Caring for the Kenai contest.

SBDC to hold workshop

The Small Business Development Center will hold a seminar on illuminating cash flow and budget from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Red Diamond Center, 43335 Kalifornsky Beach Road., Suite 16. Fraud prevention seminar slated

The Kenai and Soldotna Chamber will host a fraud prevention seminar for businesses from 9 a.m. to noon March 18 at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska, 9711 Kenai Spur Highway, Kenai. Donald Krohn, security manager for First National Bank will be the presenter. Seating is limited. There is no cost. Seafood processing course set

The University of Alaska's Marine Advisory Program will hold an introduction to seafood processing March 21 through 25 at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Association Building, 40610 Kalifornsky Beach Road. Part of the course will be held at an area processing facility.

It is for anyone interested in learning to process and direct market fisheries products. Lectures and hands-on activities will cover food safety, quality, regulations, fish handling by species, chilling and freezing, product forms, smoking, jerky production and packaging. Job center to host workshop

The Peninsula Job Center will host a workshop giving an overview of the Alaska labor market from 8 to 11:45 a.m. today at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska, 9711 Kenai Spur Highway, Kenai.

The topics will be economic trends, occupational outlook and resource overview. The workshop will assist participants in understanding how economic data can empower people to deal with changing labor market situations.
