Pet photos wanted

The Peninsula Clarion is looking for pet photos from Kenai Peninsula residents to run on its Sunday Pets page. Pet photos either can be color or black and white and should be no smaller than 3-by-5 inches. They may include people. Limit one photo per household.

They can be dropped off at the Kenai office on Trading Bay or mailed to the Clarion at P.O. Box 3009, Kenai, AK 99611. A brief explanation of the photo, the pet's and owner's names, owner's address and phone number must be included. E-mailed photos will not be accepted. Only photos with an address written on the back will be returned. For more information, call Jenny Neyman at 283-7551.

Dinner, auction fund-raiser set

Kalifornsky Beach Elementary will host a spaghetti dinner and Chinese auction fund-raiser from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today in the gym. Dinner will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Pop and ice cream bars and espresso will be available for purchase. The Chinese auction will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Profits will benefit needed classroom supplies and educational field trips.

The cost is $5 a plate or $20 a family. For more information, call Deanna Leslie at 260-1314.

MS support group to meet

A multiple sclerosis support group will meet at noon today in the Iliamna Room at Central Peninsula General Hospital. Participants are asked to bring a lunch. For more information, call Barb at 262-5030.

Parent organization to discuss gangs

Parents for a Safe Community will meet at 6:30 p.m. today in the Soldotna High School teachers' lounge. The topic will be "Gangs, Bullying and Harassment" The Soldotna Police Department will lead the forum, which is sponsored by the SoHi PTSA. It is open to the public. Band concert planned

The Skyview High School band will perform at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the commons of the school.

Parade scheduled

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will hold its 14th annual St. Patrick's Day parade and celebration. The parade will begin at 4:30 p.m. The route will following Kenai Spur Highway from Bailey's Furniture to the "Y" in Soldotna. A family-style Irish dinner of Irish stew served in sourdough bowls will begin at 6 p.m. at the Soldotna Sports Center followed by an auction. Family dog class offered

The Kenai Kennel Club will offer a basic obedience class for the family dog to teach them to sit, stay, come when called and walk on a leash without dragging the owner down the street.

In addition to the basics, students may teach their dog tricks and learn about other activities they can take part in with their pet.

Classes will be at 6 p.m. Fridays starting March 18. To sign up or find out more, call 335-2552.

Red Cross offers renewal classes

The American Red Cross of Alaska will hold a renewal class for adult CPR and first aid from 6 to 10 p.m. April 6 at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Building on Kalifornsky Beach Road. It will fulfill the requirements for a six-pack license. The cost is $35. For more information or to register, call 262-4541.
