"Miss Dee Dee's Class:" Art for Kids activities for elementary school youth are scheduled for spring break. Monday and Tuesday, March 14 and 15, will feature paper mache classes (cost $40), Thursday, March 17 will feature a clay class and Friday, March 18 will be cartoon fun (cost $20 each). The Wednesday Soldotna Creek Market is back! The market will run for 11 consecutive Wednesdays, June 1 through Aug. 10, 2011. Vendor spaces will cost from $15-$30 per Wednesday. Vendor spaces must be reserved in advance. Please call Rae at 262-2729 for more information and to reserve your space!
The Triumvirate Theater will have its Sixth Annual Dinner Theatre and Art Auction March 25 and 26 at Mykel's Restaurant in Soldotna. This year's show, "The Magnificent Salmon," is a spoof of the classic western, "The Magnificent Seven." The play was written by Carla Jenness and is directed by Joseph Rizzo. It's starring Chris Jenness, Jamie Nelson, Angie Nelson, Joe Rizzo, Carla Jenness, Chris Pepper, Randy Daly, Shannon Sorensen, Cole Aaronson, Nicki VanRaden and many more! Tickets are $65 per person. The Performing Arts Society presents a concert by the ARC Trio, with Maria Allison, piano, Linda Rosenthal, violin, and Andrew Cook, cello, at 7:30 p.m. March 26 at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna. Tickets are $15 for general admission or $10 for students, available at Northcountry Fair, River City Books and Sweeney's in Soldotna, Country Liquor in Kenai, the KPC Bookstore off K-Beach, and at the door.
The Soldotna High School Drama department presents "We Were Stardust," written and directed by Mike Druce, at 7 p.m. March 31 and April 1 and 2. Admission is $5.
Registration for the 2011 Sitka Fine Arts Camp is now open on a first-come, first-served basis. The camp offers over 60 classes per session in music, dance, theatre, visual arts, writing, and Alaskan Native Arts. Online registration is available through the camp website at www.fineartscamp.org.
