Ex-mayor reimburses North Pole over contested election

Posted: Sunday, March 11, 2001

NORTH POLE (AP) -- Former mayor Tim Peters has reimbursed the city $7,296 for election contest expenses.

Peters was mayor of North Pole for about a year when he was recalled in a special election in November 1998. The city had asked for reimbursement of attorney fees following Judge Mary Greene's dismissal last August of the remaining counts of Peters' defamation suit against the City Council and former councilman Douglas Boyer. Judge Greene ordered Peters to pay the election contest expenses in October.
