Ninilchik resident Betty Ann Basham died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, of cancer. She was 72.
Mrs. Basham was born Aug. 3, 1928, in Cold Creek, Okla., to John E. and Reba (Hogue) Waits. She received her education from Torrance High School in Torrance, Calif. She later married Manuel R. Basham on Nov. 11, 1945, in Torrance.
She worked at Wilikenzie Market from 1965 to 1967. Her hobbies included cooking, sewing and entertaining friends. She attended the Assembly of God Church in Ninilchik.
She was preceded in death by sons Stephen and Rodney Basham.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Manuel Basham; daughter, Kathleen J. Daniel, of Roseburg, Ore.; son, Michael R. Basham, of South Haven, Miss.; brother, Douglas J. Waits, of Pleasant Hill, Ore.; sisters Bobbie L. Smith, of Springfield, Ore., and Jeanie Smith, of Dexter, Ore.; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to the National Cancer Society.
Arrangements were made by the Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield, Ore.
