Ninilchik girls cruise past Eagles

The Ninilchik Wolverines girls basketball team blasted the CIA Eagles 53-28 with a District 3/2A loss Friday.

The Wolverines took a 22-14 first-half lead and never looked back as they pounded to the win behind the scoring abilities of Whitney Leman, who poured in 22, while Molly Bosick added 15 for Ninilchik.

The Eagles stumbled to a loss even as Kristen Zimmerman scored 12 points in the losing effort.

The Ninilchik Wolverines topped Nenana Thursday. The Wolverines followed the lead of Whitney Leman, who poured in 15, while Molly Bosick added 14 and Brie Leman and Janelle Moerlein added 11 each.

Nenana had seven players score, but only two players scored more than two points in the losing effort.

The Ninilchik Wolverines boys basketball team dominated the Nenana boys Thursday, outscoring them 30-20 in the second half to secure the win and crush any chance of a come-from-behind win.

The Wolverines followed the scoring prowess of Buck Kvasnikoff, who poured in 25 points, while Steven Miller added 14 and Josh Smith added 13.

The Nenana squad followed Nick Sloat with 18 points, with Jason Moore putting in 13 in the losing effort.
