ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A patient from Alaska Psychiatric Institute was temporarily missing during a supervised weekend shopping trip in a downtown Anchorage mall.
Milton Kinsman got lost at the Fifth Avenue Mall for about three hours on Sunday, according to API director Randall Burns. He said Kinsman was shopping with a staff member and one other API patient.
Burns said Kinsman became confused and got lost. Kinsman wandered around, looking for an API van before police found him in a parking garage.
About 20 years ago, Kinsman was judged not guilty by reason of insanity for a homicide. Police had no details about the homicide.
Kinsman is about 60 years old and has been at API about 18 years. Burns said Kinsman is not in good health and is not a danger to the public.
