Many contribute to successful cross country ski season at Nikiski

Now that the high school cross county ski season has come to close, I would like to publicly thank some individuals and organizations that have contributed greatly to our programs and to the young people who take part in this very "Alaskan" sport.

First, a big thank you to all of the parents who helped in so many ways with the fund-raising activities, with the myriad of things that take place at every race that is hosted and, most importantly, with supporting your kids with the necessary time and money this sport requires. If each athlete hasn't thanked you already, be assured they will in the years to come.

We would also like to thank the Nikiski High School PTSA for its contribution toward new uniforms for the team, the North Kenai Baptist Church for providing the fantastic "Hospitality Room" at the Region III Meet and Dr. Mark Hutton for the special support provided.

Finally, we would like to express a huge thank you to Gray Line of Alaska. As a service to the ski teams from Seward High School and Nikiski High School, Gray Line provided a motor coach and driver to take us from Anchorage to Fairbanks to take part in the state cross country ski meet. This was a huge boost to the kids, not to mention the wear and tear it saved the coaches and chaperones. Thank you, Gray Line and Holland America, for your contribution to our communities! Every time I see one of your tour buses on the highway I will be reminded again of your generosity and support to and for us.
