Soldotna resident, Mrs. Audrey June Breed, 76, died March 9, 2010, at Heritage Place with her family by her side.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. today, Thursday, March 11, at the Soldotna Senior Citizens Center, 197 West Park Avenue in Soldotna. A gathering will follow at the center.
Mrs. Breed was born Feb. 2, 1934, in Dells, Wis. She lived there until she was 12-years-old and then the family moved to New Lisbon, Wis. She graduated high school in New Lisbon in 1952. Shortly after she graduated she married Morris Breed on Aug. 23, 1952.
The couple moved to Aurora, Minn., in 1957, where Morris got a job working for Erie Mining, Co. They were involved at the Assembly Of God Church, where they were members for more than 30 years. Audrey was a Sunday school superintendent, church pianist and many times a Sunday school teacher when needed. She worked for 15 years in the garment industry in Virginia, Minn.
"She loved to knit and crochet. Audrey gave hundreds of hats, mittens, scarves, and sweaters to charities over the years. Audrey had five children," her family said. "Mom was loved and respected by all who knew her. She never realized how special she was."
Mrs. Breed was preceded in death by her son, Jeffery Breed in 1981; brothers, Dan and Bud; and sisters, Lorraine, Laverne, Ruth and Grace.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, of Soldotna; sons, Lynn Breed of Biwabik, Minn., Duane Breed and his wife, Helen, of Globe, Ariz., Dana Breed and his wife, Brenda, of Soldotna; daughter, Jane Sammartano and her husband, Jeff, of Sandpoint, Idaho; sisters, Doris and Dorothy, both of Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
