Lenten services will continue to be held every Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. through April 20 at Star of the North Lutheran Church, 216 N. Forest Dr., in Kenai. Everyone is welcome to attend. We will be looking at some of the players involved in the events leading up to the crucifixion, and listening to what their conversations might have been. On April 13 at 6:30 p.m. there will be a potluck dinner (please, no pork, shellfish or leaven bread). A representative of Chosen People Ministries will give a presentation, "Christ in the Passover."
The Nikiski Nazarene Church holds a special installation service Sunday, March 13, at 10:45 a.m. for new pastors Jason and Maya Evoy. The Evoys, along with their three children Brady, Connor and Kelty, come from Bakersfield, Calif. Everyone is welcome to join for this service, as well as the potluck afterward.
Join College Heights Baptist Church at 44440 Kalifornsky Beach Road for a free concert performed by our homegrown group, This Hope. This Hope is a group of five young men, all originally from the Kenai Peninsula who present ministry through music. Their contemporary style consists of a combination of a capella and instrument-driven songs that speak to a variety of cultures and generations. They will be at College Heights for one night only, Friday, March 25, at 7 p.m.
Pastor Marti Slater will lead a study group on world religions on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Kenai United Methodist Church. The sessions will cover Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Judaism and Christianity. The study group will run through Feb. 22. Adam Hamilton's "Christianity and World Religions: Wrestling With Questions People Ask," is the study guide and is available from the minister for $10. The Soldotna church of the Nazarene will be holding Life Skills International class Learning to Live Learning to Love. A women's class will start March 24, 6 to 9 p.m., and run for for 26 weeks. Registration is $45, plus a fee of $25 per class. Contact Mary Glaves, facilitator, at 398-6318.

Classes for anyone interested in the Catholic Church will be held each Wednesday evening at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. The classes are held in O'Neill Hall on Redoubt Avenue at 6:30 p.m. each week. Those attending will learn about the teaching of the Church based on the teachings of Jesus Christ to His disciples. Saint Luke Lutheran Church offers several faith strengthening opportunities during the week. The parish's Wednesday 10:30 a.m. fellowship/study is focusing on Numbers. The group attempts to cover one chapter a session and meets at 48095 Andrews Avenue for approximately one hour.
Wednesday evening activities take place at the Parish Hall, 43055 Kenai Spur Highway, and consist of a potluck fellowship, Vespers Service and detailed analysis of basic Christian doctrine, currently focusing on the relevance of ancient Christian doctrine for the 21st Century. The fellowship/potluck begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by Vespers at 6:30 p.m. and study from 7 to 8 p.m. The pastor also offers weekly homilies on the website in written and mp3 formats for those who cannot participate in any of the parish activities in person.
