Peer counselors to lead mothers group

The Kenai WIC office in the Seaman Building in Kenai will host a Mothers Group today at 3 p.m. This group is for pregnant mothers who would like to meet other mothers in the community and discuss parenting issues.

Social workers to meet

The Kenai Branch of the National Association of Social Workers will hold its monthly meeting at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Paradisos in Kenai.

Historic quake to be discussed

The Kenai Chamber of Commerce will hold a luncheon at noon Wednesday at Old Town Village Restaurant in Old Town Kenai. Debra Holle with the Red Cross and Kathy Flynn with Project Impact will discuss the 1964 Earthquake.

School district direction examined

A meeting to discuss the direction of the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Kenai Central High School library and 7 p.m. Thursday at Nikiski Middle-Senior High School library.

Advisory board to meet

The Kenai River Special Management Area Advisory Board will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Kenai River Center at 514 Funny River Road in Soldotna. Agenda topics will include the evaluation of light penetrating walkways, volunteer water quality monitoring project, recreation impact study committee status report and updates on the River Terrace Laundromat contamination cleanup, plus other general updates of commercial operations and pending permits.

The Homer Chamber of Commerce will hold a chamber mixer at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Friendship Terrace at the Homer Senior Center.

Forum held to discuss tobacco use

The Tobacco Control Alliance of the Peninsula will sponsor a peninsulawide community forum at 7 p.m. Friday at Skyview High School. The forum will discuss issues relating to tobacco use and clean indoor air. The forum is open to the public. For more information, call Patti at 260-3682.

Marine guide offered to boat owners

The Marine Trades Committee of the Homer Chamber of Commerce is offering a free Boat Owners Guide to Homer. The guide is filled with information for boat owners. The features include a comprehensive list of Homer's ports, harbor facilities, services, rules, regulations, boating safety tips and marine related numbers.
