The Cook Inlet Academy Eagles boys basketball team followed the scoring abilities of six different players to bury the Nenana boys squad in a 62-28 decision Saturday.
The Eagles used the precision shooting of Jacob Peterson, who led the team with 16 points, to crush Nenana while Justin Franchino poured in 15, Stephen Staton chipped in 12 and Luke Myers added 10. Teammates Calder Hillyer, who added five points, and Kyle Nettles, who had four, saw time on the court along with Anthony Agosti, Greg Brown and Bryan Powers. CIA's smothering defense held all of the Nenana shooters below double digit scoring and committed 11 fouls.

The CIA Eagles girls basketball team showed what can happen to their opposition when all of their talented players see time on the hardwood as they cruised by the struggling Nenana squad Saturday.
The Eagles followed the hot hands of Chantal Reese and Brittany Leiter, who poured in 13 each to lead CIA, while Sarah McLeod added 12. Other Eagles to score included Mandy Evans and Kristen Zimmerman with six points apiece, Katie Zimmerman with five points and Jessica Hall with two. Janel Franchino and Miranda Zundel playedbut did not score in the contest.
Charlotte Beck scored over half of Nenana's points, hitting 20.

Nikiski girls 41, Seward 29
The Nikiski Bulldogs followed the always-reliable scoring of Laura Berdahl, who scored 16, and Karen Rabung, who had 14, as they pounded out a win over the Seahawks Friday.
The Bulldogs only allowed the fifth-ranked Seward squad to score only two points in the third quarter as the Nikiski squad broke open a tight game heading out of the half. The only Seward player that scored in double digits was Erin Carr with 13 points.

CIA boys 73, Ninilchik 50
The CIA Eagles boys basketball team dominated the Ninilchik Wolverines Friday as four Eagles players boosted the squad to victory with double-digit scoring.
Chet Nettles led the offensive attack, scoring 30 points against the Wolverines while teammate Hillyer chipped in 12 points and Franchino and Peterson added 10 for the Eagles.
The Wolverines followed the always dedicated shooting of Buck Kvasnikoff, who led Ninilchik with 19 points, while Jon Matson added 15.
