Sled dog association gathering slated

The Peninsula Sled Dog Racing Association will meet Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kenai River Center on Funny River Road in Soldotna. Everyone is invited to attend. For more information, call Mindee at 283-3954 or Mitch at 262-4977.

Steering committee meets Thursday

The Healthy Communities-Healthy People steering committee will hold its monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Bridges, 145 Kasilof St. in Soldotna. For more information, call Bridges at 260-3800.

CPCS board to meet

Central Peninsula Counseling Services board of directors will meet 5:30 p.m. Thursday at 506 Lake St. in Kenai. The public is welcome to attend. For more information, call 283-7051.

KPC to present comedy showcase

Kenai Peninsula College will present a comedy showcase Friday at 8 p.m. at the college. Ben Bailey, who has performed comedy on NBC, FOX, CBS, Comedy Central and in the motion picture "So Real," will be the featured performer, with local comic Jason Battiest providing the opening act.

Cost is $10 for general admission and $5 for seniors and students. Tickets are available at Kaladi Brothers, River City Books and the KPC bookstore. For more information, call 262-0346.

Scholarship program set for Saturday

The Alaska National Teen-ager Scholarship Program will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Renee C. Henderson Auditorium at Kenai Central High School. Admission is free for parents of finalists, $12 for adults, and $8 for children under 5 or seniors over 65.

Genealogy class planned

The Totem Tracers Genealogical Society and the Soldotna Family History Center will present a genealogy class entitled, "Getting Started," at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Kenai Community Library. For more information, call Cheryl at 776-3575 or 283-4481.

Nikiski dance concert slated

The Nikiski High Dance Concert will be held March 28 and 29 at the Nikiski High auditorium. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $10 at the door or $7 for advance tickets. Advance tickets are available at Alaskan Gift and Gallery in Kenai, Bear Paw in Nikiski and River City Books in Soldotna. For more information, call 776-3456.

Health center now taking appointments

Cottonwood Health Center, a primary medical care facility which provides care to patients regardless of ability to pay, is scheduling appointments instead of seeing patients on a walk-in basis. Same day appointments are accepted between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The center is at 170 E. Coral St. in Soldotna. For more information, call 262-3119.
