This letter was sent to all Kenai Peninsula school board members:
Please do not cut Moose Pass School down to one teacher next year. We need to keep both our teachers in order for the Moose Pass school to deliver an effective and quality education for our students. One classroom will not work for a projected 28 students in 9 grades. Our children’s education is of utmost importance to the future of our community and the state.
Additionally the community of Moose Pass currently has 17 children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years who will be future students at the school. Our community is a young and growing community. Our school is the heart of our community. Please don’t force our community members to take their kids out of school because they can not learn in a classroom situation with only one teacher for too many students.
The school in Moose Pass used to have 3 teachers covering the 9 grades ideally it would be nice to return to that level! If the current staffing and funding levels continue in future years, adults with school age students will be forced to move away from the Kenai Peninsula in order to provide a quality education for their children.
