Delbert 'Del' Stanley Valentine
Former Kenai Peninsula resident Delbert “Del” Stanley Valentine died Sunday, March 4, at his home in Fircrest, Wash., following a brief hospital stay.
A memorial Mass was held Thursday, March 8, preceded by a rosary and vigil on Wednesday, March 7. Both services were held at Saint Charles Borromeo in Tacoma, Wash.
Mr. Valentine was born July 15, 1931, in Tacoma. After graduation from Bellarmine, he attended the University of Washington. From there he began a 45-year career in the commercial fishing industry, where he managed seafood plants throughout Alaska.
Mr. Valentine lived in Fircrest for the past 31 years.
He was an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Northwest Salmon Canners Association and a lifelong member of the Elks Club.
He enjoyed travel, the arts, entertaining family and friends, and tolerated bridge to please his wife.
He is survived by Mary, his wife of 47 years; children, Bill, John, Ann, Mike and Patti and their spouses; seven grandchildren; and sister, Rae Marie Duclos.
