Business mushers boost charities

The event, organized by the Peninsula Sled Dog and Racing Association, challenged area business people to pay $100 each to race a team of three huskies around a three-quarter-mile track at Soldotna airport.

Final standings: 1- Singleton, representing the Veterans of Foreign Wars, will donate her winnings to the Veterans' Relief Fund; 2- Barb Gilbert, representing Kaladi Brothers Coffee Co., will donate her winnings to the American Cancer Society on behalf of Claude Bradford; 3- Crystal Poindexter, representing the U.S. Department of Agriculture, will donate her winnings to the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank; 4- Sarah Parker, representing Spenard Builders Supply Inc.; 5- (red lantern recipient) Vane, representing Sweeney's Clothing.
