Barnes, Geller top All-Region squads

Kenai's Nick Barnes and Skyview's Ryan Geller were named to the boys first-team All-Region III/4A team Saturday at the Region III/4A tournament in Wasilla.

Barnes and Geller joined Homer's Luke Gilbert as peninsula representatives on the boys' first team.

Homer's Bailey Lowney, Channing Setterquist and Chantrelle Cousins were named first-team on the girls side.

Named to the second-team boys squad from the peninsula were Soldotna's Ryan Hall and Matt Hicks, along with Kenai's Geoffrey Gemmell.

Peninsula girls named to the second-team included Lindsay Gephardt and Amanda Fay of Skyview; Kenai's Breezy Saltzgiver; and Brittany Howard of Soldotna.

Region III/4A All-Region basketball teams:

Boys first team: Stanley Ratcliff, Palmer (MVP); Mark Putney, Kodiak; Kurtis Devon, Palmer; Ryan Geller, Skyview; Rhett Magner, Colony; Erich Simpson, Kodiak; Justin Schwartzbauer, Colony; Luke Gilbert, Homer; Nick Barnes, Kenai; Matt Crane, Wasilla. Coach of the year: Brandon Blake, Palmer.

Boys second team: Geoffrey Gemmell, Kenai; Zach Keplinger, Kodiak; Charlie Bentti, Palmer; Ryan Hall, Soldotna; Matt Hicks, Soldotna; Jesse Bean, Wasilla; David Williams, Wasilla.

Girls first team: Chandice Cronk, Wasilla (MVP); Molly Cassidy, Kodiak; Siena Locke, Colony; Chantrelle Cousins, Homer; Alicia Berbarich, Palmer; Jamie Brown, Wasilla; Channing Setterquist, Homer; Emily Bolling, Palmer; Kristina Klapperich, Colony; Bailey Lowney, Homer.
