Waffle breakfast set to dish

The American Legion George Plumley Memorial Unit No. 20 will hold a Belgium waffle breakfast from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. The cost is a $6 donation. For more information, call, 283-3222.

Genealogical Society to meet

Totem Tracers Genealogical Society will hold a business meeting at 6 p.m. with general meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Kenai Community Library. Meeting are open to the public. For more information, e-mail totemtracers@hotmail.com.

Public heath plans one-day closure

Book club gets its read on

The Kenai library book club will discuss “Water for Elephants” by Sara Gruen on March 27. For more information and meeting time, call 776-5684. It is open to the public.

Book fair slated

Central Peninsula Hospital will hold a book fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 5 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 6 in the Denali Conference Center, on the lower level of the Mountain Tower. Proceeds will benefit the auxiliary scholarship program.

Agility, obedience classes planned

The Kenai Kennel Club will offer a beginning dog agility class, open to all dogs, April 7 at the facility in the C Plaza in Kenai. Agility is where a handler directs a dog through an obstacle course.

KKC also offers ongoing classes, including puppy kindergarten, basic and rally obedience, conformation and handling, and is planning a Canine Good Citizen class, consisting of a six-week class where students take their dogs through a series of situations designed to teach the dog to be under control, such as in a crowd of people and around other dogs.

A test is given at the end of the session. Those who pass may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club, which sponsors the program.

Mother, daughter tea poised

ABC Crisis Pregnancy Center will host a fundraising mother-daughter tea from 1 to 4 p.m. April 14. The theme will be “The Bride of Christ.” To reserve a table or for more information, call the center’s office at 283-9062.
