FAIRBANKS (AP) -- Days after winning its third straight N-C-DOUBLE-A championship, the University of Alaska Fairbanks rifle team is collecting more honors.
Six members of the team have been named to the All-American team.
Matt Emmons, senior Olympian Melissa Mulloy and Karl Olsson were named first team smallbore. Per Sandberg was named first team smallbore, while senior Captain Grant Mecozzi was named first team air rifle. Amber Darland was named second team smallbore and air rifle, while Mecozzi was named second team smallbore and Sandberg was named second team air rifle.
First-team status goes to the top 10 score averages in the nation. And second-team status goes to shooters ranked 11th to 20th.
The Nanooks outshot the competition at the weekend NCAA championship at Columbus, Ohio, winning the title by more than 100 points.
