Chamber mixer planned

The Homer Chamber of Commerce will hold a chamber mixer at 5:30 p.m. today at Friendship Terrace at the Homer Senior Center.

Forum held to discuss tobacco use

The Tobacco Control Alliance of the Peninsula will sponsor a peninsulawide community forum at 7 p.m. tonight at Skyview High School. The forum will discuss issues relating to tobacco use and clean indoor air. The forum is open to the public. For more information, call Patti at 260-3682.

Eagles dinner planned

The Fraternal Order of Eagles 3525 Auxiliary will hold its annual St. Patrick's Day Dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Aerie at 5765 Kenai Spur Highway. All money raised from the dinner will be given to the Jimmy Durante Child Abuse Fund. The dinner is open to the public.

Mount Marathon sign-ups slated

Walk-in registration for the 2001 Mount Marathon race will be held Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Seward Chamber of Commerce. There are 25 men's race spaces, 76 women's and 101 junior spaces.

Red Cross in search of volunteers

The Red Cross is looking for volunteers to help during unexpected times of a disaster. A Red Cross Damage Assessment course will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly Chambers.

Computer classes offered.

People Count Inc. will offer an Excel class from noon to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the PCI Skills Resource Center in Kenai. For more information and to register, call 283-4099.

The Kenai Peninsula Borough Local Emergency Planning Committee will meet at 9 a.m. Thursday in the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly Chambers. The meeting is open to the public.

Boys and Girls Club offers class

The Boys and Girls Club in Kenai is currently holding a sign-up for the music and movement class for 3- to 5-year-old boys and girls that will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning April 3. Lauralee Smart will instruct the class.

The class will combine dance, movement and tumbling. The cost is $56, which includes a $10 Boys and Girls Club Junior Membership and a $46 activity fee. Scholarship applications are available upon requests.

KBEA scholarships offered

The Kenai Borough Employees Association scholarship committee is accepting applications for four $500 scholarships. The scholarships are available to all 2001 graduates of the Kenai Peninsula Borough, including public, private and home-schooled individuals.

Applications and instructions are available from any Kenai Peninsula Borough high school counselor's office, at the information desk of the borough building or at www.borough.kenai.ak.us

Applications must be postmarked by March 30.
