Council dabbling where they shouldn’t
The Kenai City Council has been talking about taking the rights of the tax-paying residents and people who have lived here all their lives to not be able to use the older motors on the river. I would like to know the number of river hours the council members have spent on it.
Library well deserving of award
Our library has earned its third major award to the Kenai community library in a year. The Public Library Association’s EBSCO Excellence in Small and-or Rural Public Library Service Award for 2007 recognizes a public library that serves fewer than 10,000 that demonstrates excellence of service to the community by one of three measures: uniqueness of program or service; impact upon the community; and how the program will affect the future of the library and the community.

Mackey’s win no surprise for musher’s friends

Celebrating biodiversity: Refuge home to thousands of species
The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge came into existence in 1941 as the Kenai Moose Range. In 1980, the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act (ANILCA) changed the name and shifted our focus from moose management to the very broad purpose of conserving all kinds of fish and wildlife populations and habitats in their full natural diversity. This was a tall order, much taller than being a just a moose preserve.
