Playground planners appreciate support

Posted: Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Soldotna Community Playground would like to extend a heartfelt "thank you" to Credit Union 1 for its generous support of Soldotna's new community playground.

Rachel Ramsey, Credit Union 1 Vice President of Marketing and Communications said, "I'm always amazed by the generosity and support the Soldotna community shows to the credit union and our community service endeavors. We are very proud to be part of such a wonderful community!"

The Soldotna Community Playground group agrees wholeheartedly, even if simply through the generosity of Credit Union 1! To benefit the playground project, the Soldotna Branch of Credit Union 1 held two cake raffles during Halloween and Valentine's Day. These raffles raised a total of $919. In conjunction with its Member Appreciation Day Friday, March 5, the credit union held a silent auction to benefit the playground. The auction raised nearly $3500.

With Credit Union 1's matching funds, the total from the cake raffle and the purchase of two fish for the children of the credit union's learning center to paint on behalf of the playground, Credit Union 1 will be presenting a check for $8000 to the Soldotna Community Playground.

The Soldotna Community Playground volunteer team is honored by the investment by Credit Union 1; a wonderful business of community-minded people. Together, with their support and the support of countless others in this community, a new playground is being built that reflects the pride and beauty of the central peninsula.

Soldotna Community Playground will be the place to gather and play for families and children for generations to come. Visit our web site at www.soldotnacommunityplayground.com to find out how you can share in the excitement by helping build the playground during Build Week May 3 at Soldotna Creek Park. Even if you're not a kid, you'll feel like one again at the Soldotna Community Playground!
