ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A teen who escaped from the McLaughlin Youth Center in Anchorage Wednesday was apprehended early Thursday, Anchorage police said.
Jacob Baxter, 17, got away from a McLaughlin employee during a visit to a dentist, according to authorities. Baxter was handcuffed and shackled at the time. Police determined that he escaped with the help of his 19-year-old brother.
The two beat the attendant, Bob Greenan, and sprayed him with pepper spray before making their getaway, police said.
Acting on a tip, the police apprehended the youths at a downtown Anchorage apartment at 8:45 a.m. Thursday. One was hiding under a bed with a rifle, police said, but both surrendered without incident.
