Former Kasilof resident Susanne Zeppenfeldt Erdmann died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, in La Paz, Mexico. She was 51.
Mrs. Erdmann was born Sept. 10, 1950, in Germany. While living in Alaska, she participated in various equestrian events with her beloved horse, Stormy.
Mrs. Erdmann left Alaska in 1995 for Port Hadlock, Wash. She married Fred Erdmann Jr. on June 23, 1996, and left with him to sail the waters of the Pacific from Alaska to Mexico on board their 35-foot boat, the Periwinkle. In September of 2000, they moved onto their new ketch, Aleutian Spirit, and headed back out to sea.
"Fred and Susanne made many friends in the 'cruising' family as they stopped in ports all along the coast spending time on shore making new friends and visiting with old ones. Susanne's ever-ready smile and the happiness she found on the water will be missed by all who met her," her friends said.
Mrs. Erdmann is survived by her husband, Fredrick; son, Paul Guffey of Hollywood, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law, Elton and Tanya Schweitzer of Alameda, Calif.; sister, Rosie Starr of Everett, Wash.; and brother, Steve Zeppenfeldt of Missouri.
There will be no local services. Anyone wishing to remember Mrs. Erdmann may donate to the charity of their choice.
