ANCHORAGE (AP) A man was charged with assault, weapons misconduct and possession of cocaine early Sunday after shooting a gun downtown at several people, Anchorage police said.
Dexter B. Topps, 34, was taken to the Anchorage Jail with bail set at $30,000.
The arrest followed a disturbance at The Avenue Bar. Police said Topps apparently pulled out a pistol and pointed it at several employees.
A little after 3 a.m., Topps got into an argument with several men in a parking lot at Fourth Avenue and C Street. Topps pulled out a gun and fired at the men as they ran, police said. No one was hit.
Police found Topps hiding in the recessed entryway of a store on the 300 block of west Fifth Avenue. He was carrying a .45-caliber handgun.
As Topps was being processed at the Anchorage Jail, corrections officers found a bag containing cocaine on him.
