KPHA U-16 Midget Team says thanks for community support

Posted: Wednesday, March 17, 2004

The Kenai Peninsula Hockey Association U-16 Midget Team would like to thank Hutchings Chevrolet and Cadillac for its generous support for youth hockey. Sean Hutchings sponsored the Alaska State Hockey Tournament for the U-16 Midget teams March 5-7. The sponsorship allowed the team to print programs and host a successful tournament.

Of course there are many others to thank for their volunteer time and support. We would like to thank Kelly Brewer, Lisa Gabriel and Carol Silver for helping with our credential meeting; Chris Milles from Fairbanks, referee-in-chief; Skip Waldrip for volunteering in the penalty box; Karen Williamson for her music talents at the games; Kaladi Brothers for its donation of coffee for the tournament hospitality room; David Ramey Photography for taking photos at the games; KSRM for the announcements and advertising on the radio; and all the Soldotna Sports Center staff for their support and diligent help to keep the tournament running smoothly. And then there is the hockey community that showed up in great numbers to support the team. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces in the stands at the sports center on Sunday. The community support truly helped the KPHA team come away from the tournament as state champions.

We invite you all to join us in our fund-raising efforts on March 26 at the Soldotna Sports Center for a Spaghetti Feed and Chinese Auction as we prepare for Nationals in Ellenton, Fla., representing Alaska and Kenai Peninsula.

Thank you for all your help and support!

Michelle McGlasson for the KPHA U-16 Midget Team
