A two-for-one Scholastic book fair will be held all this week. Volunteers still are needed to work and help clean up Friday.

The fourth- through sixth-grade spring musical will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Soldotna High School.

Third quarter ends Friday.

The spelling bee winner was Jasmine Woodland. Shaynee DeVito was the runner-up.

Artist in Schools with Eddie Wood will be at 8:30 a.m. Friday with a demonstration show in gym. Artists in Schools is a program of the Alaska State Council on the Arts, which receives funding support from the Alaska Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, with additional funding from the Kalifornsky Beach PTA.

Mrs. Furlong's class will dissect frogs this week. The students have been practicing their dissecting on the computer with virtual frog dissecting. The class also enjoyed Jump Rope for Heart and a snowshoeing adventure.

The first-graders practiced their "doubles + 1" facts. Parents are encouraged to keep practicing math facts at home with their students. Students also have learned how to tell time to the half hour, continued adding dimes and pennies with regrouping and started to learn about adding 10 to a number.

Spring Carnival will be from noon to 4 p.m. April 24. Volunteers still are needed to help with booths. Interested parents should call their student's teacher. Also, donations are needed for the cakewalk. Two free tickets are being offered for each donation.
