Sixth-grader Ryan Sanders has been named the school's Outstanding Masonic Student of the year, and Jenna Jensen was the first runner-up. Students nominated as outstanding sixth-graders included Marcus Renfrow, Rachel Hanke, Teslin Hughes, Brionna Fabunan, Joseph Works, Shayleen Harrison, Chelsea Wilbanks, Norma Holt, Jenna French, Ashley Lloyd, Linnea Powers, Tyler Carroll, Shalynda Daigle, Tiffany Maglasang-Kline, Emily Edwards, Kailey Mucha, Jenna Jensen, Sara Mohorcich, Emily Rich and Ryan Sanders.
There were more than 100 attendees at the Title 1 Seuss Festival for parents and students. Students were able to make Oobleck from "Bartholomew and the Oobleck," decorate star cookies from Seuss' "The Sneeches," create "Cat in the Hat" hats, eat green eggs and ham and play with Whispermaphones from the book, "The Lorax." The staff and students thank the Title 1 reading teacher, Katrina Cannava, and library aide Debbie Adamson for their planning, creativity and dedication, which made this event so successful for children.
The forensics competition, under the sponsorship of sixth-grade teacher Karlene Meyers, was held. Hannah Morgan, Miranda Zufelt, Erica Byerly, Kaili Sholin, Mary Wendel, Dawson Shangin, Tatyana Stott and Angela Ramponi placed first in the fifth-grade multiple prose category. The fifth-grade, first-place winner for humorous poetry-single was Christina Tachick. Jenna Poppin, Alisha Cramer and Kelli Thomlison were the first-place, sixth-grade winners in multiple prose, and Jenna Jensen, Emily Rich, Linnea Powers and Kailey Mucha were first in the poetry category. Close second-place winners were Keegan Eshleman and Tasha Waterbury.
