Friday is a minimum day, and school will be dismissed at 12:55 p.m.
Students who owe classroom fees need to get them paid as soon as possible. Report cards will be mailed out at the end of this month unless fees are owed. The school will hold report cards at the office until fees are paid.
Fourteen students will travel to Washington, D.C., during spring break. They will visit Jamestown and Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia, as well as D.C. sites including Ford's Theater, the Washington Monument, the FDR Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the U.S. Capitol Building, the Vietnam Memorial, the Korean Memorial, Embassy Row, the Postal Museum, the White House, the Smithsonian Complex, the Peterson House, the National Cathedral, Arlington National Cemetery, the National Zoo, the Naval Museum, the Holocaust Museum, National Geographic, Kennedy Center, Mount Vernon and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. While at the Arlington National Cemetery, four students will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The Wreath Ceremony will take place shortly after the changing of the guard.
A parent orientation program will be at 6:30 p.m. April 22 in the school library. Parents of 2004-05 seventh- and eighth-grade students of are invited to attend. There will be an opportunity to meet members of the staff and to learn more about the revised programs being offered. Parents are encouraged to attend.
The staff congratulates the A-team volleyball players. They are the borough champions. They beat Soldotna Middle School's white team in the first match Saturday in two games and, for the championship game, they played SMS maroon and beat them in two games.
