Junior left-handed hitting outfielder D.J. Hollingsworth of the University of California, Riverside will be patrolling the outfield for the 2006 Oilers. Hollingsworth spent the last two years at Chabot College where he was named Coast Conference Player of the Year and a preseason All-American. Hollingsworth is from Tracy, Calif., and is majoring in business.

Switch-hitting infielder Chance Gerloff will be joining the Oilers from Eastern Oklahoma State College. Present Oilers assistant coach Brian Hickman and former Oilers head coach (2004) and outfielder Aric Thomas comprise the EOSC staff. Gerloff, a sophomore, batted .341 and stole 23 bases for the 2005 Eastern Oklahoma season while being named to the all-conference team. Chance is undeclared scholastically and calls Leedy, Okla., his home town.

Information for Oilers Corner is submitted by Peninsula Oilers acting general manager Mike Baxter. The Oilers compete in the Alaska Baseball League.
