Former Kenai resident Cecil Lindsay of Bakersfield, Calif., died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009 at his home due to complications from Parkinsons disease. He was 71.
Services will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. April 10, 2010 in Bakersfield.
Mr. Lindsay was born Dec. 2, 1937 to Gene and Lenora Lindsay in Ckickasha, Okla. He married Marjorie "Kitty" Lindsay on Dec. 2, 1980 in North Kenai.
Mr. Lindsay served three years in the Army during the Korean War. He was an Alaskan iron worker for 27 years and a member of Local No. 751. He also was a member of the American Legion and Moose and Elks lodges.
Mr. Lindsay came to Alaska to work on the pipeline in the 1970s. Bringing his family with him, they settled in North Kenai for the next 20 years.
"Cecil will be greatly missed by family and friends. He was very outgoing and had a zest for life, enjoying gambling, shooting pool and fishing. He left Alaska and many places with lifelong friends who will greatly miss him," his family said. "He was the love of Kitty's life and a dad that will be missed."
Mr. Lindsay is survuved by his wife; daughter, Valerie; sons Michael and Gary; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
