Lifelong Alaskan, Shirley J. Hill, 76, died Monday, March 14, 2011, of natural causes, in Soldotna.
No services were scheduled.
Mrs. Hill was born Oct. 21, 1934, to Violet Shipp, in Benkelman, Neb. She was raised in various towns in Nebraska and Wyoming. She moved to Alaska with her husband in 1965, who worked in the early operations of the Cook Inlet platforms.
Mrs. Hill was a devoted wife and mother, who was also an active gardener for many years and took much pride and joy in her yard, which remains a focal point in the center of Soldotna.
Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; daughter, Patricia; her parents; a sister; and a brother.
She is survived by her sons, Richard, of Soldotna; William, of Anaheim, Calif.; Howard, of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
