Prostate cancer support meeting today

There will be a meeting for men affected by prostate cancer at 7 p.m. today in the Redoubt room at Central Peninsula Hospital. Family and friends are welcome. For information call Jim at 260-4904.

High school hangout planned

Not able to get away this spring break? Don't worry, we don't need the beach to have a blast! Put on your shorts and shades and get ready to beat the snowy spring blues!

Calling all grades 7-12 students come down to The youth center, at Peninsula Grace Brethren Church located at mile 19.5 K-beach Rd. for spring break hangout today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Join us for billiard and foosball tournaments, music, movies, video games, prizes and bring $3 for pizza! For all your other snacks and drinks joe-mentum will be open all day!

Contra dance slated

Kenai River Folk Dancers is hosting a community-wide contra dance, Saturday, 7 to 10 p.m. at K-Beach Elementary School. ContraBanD provides live music. Beginners are welcome! All dances are taught and called. Bring clean, dry, non-marking shoes to dance in. The cost is $5 for adults and no charge for children under age 16 when accompanied by an adult. Potluck snacks are optional, but fun!

Spring break day camp

Grace Lutheran School is hosting a Spring Break Day Camp today. It's a wonderful Easter event for the whole community with arts and crafts, singing, games and Bible stories. Early drop off is at 8 a.m. and the camp begins at 9 a.m. and goes to 4 p.m. Grades pre-k to 6th grade are welcome. A hot dog lunch is provided, and afternoon swimming at Nikiski Pool for 1st through 6th grade; kindergarteners must be accompanied by parents. There is a minimal fee for the pool. Soccer tryouts open

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Kenai Peninsula is currently taking registrations for the 2010 Outdoor Soccer season. Youth ages 4 - 18 are welcome to participate. All registrations can be done at the Kenai Rec Center.

Deadline for youth 6th Grade through 12th Grade is April 16th at 4 p.m. Practices start the week of June 7.

Deadline for youth 4 years to 5th Grade is April 23rd at 4 p.m. Practices start the week of June 14.

Extension gets your goat

The Cooperative Extension Service is offering a class on March 25 from 6:30-8:00 p.m, that will teach you what is necessary to raise goats for milk, meat or fiber. Pre-registration by March 23 is requested.
