Senior fundraiser scheduled

Tickets for the senior connection fundraising dinner are now on sale. The dinner is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. March 31 at the Kenai Senior Center. Tickets are $20 and include dinner. The event is a fundraiser for Kenai's Meals on Wheels program. The evening will also have live music, a split-the-pot raffle, and a pie auction. Tickets are avilable at Charlottes and at the Kenai Senior Center. For more information call the senior center at 283-4196.

Court volunteers wanted

Wanted: Volunteers for court observer program. Two weeks of training in April in Kenai. Must be able to sit for at least two hours, take notes and fill out evaluation form. Please call Alaska Judicial Observers at 907-646-9880.

Host families needed

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service is seeking host families in the Anchorage, Kenai Peninsula and Mat-Su areas for the summer 2011 LABO Japan-Alaska 4-H Youth Exchange.

Each family must have a 10- to 16-year-old child who is willing to host a Japanese youth from July 21 to Aug. 19. The host brother or sister will be matched with a Japanese youth of the same gender and similar age and interests.

The deadline for applying is April 1. Applications are available through 4-H offices at Cooperative Extension Service district offices in Anchorage, Soldotna or Palmer. Shelter offers free vaccinations

Kenai Animal Shelter is conducting its annual Free Rabies Vaccination Clinic on March 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dogs and cats welcome. Dogs must be on a leash; cats are preferred in a carrier. Kenai residents must obtain a license for dogs at time of clinic. Altered pets: $10.60, Unaltered pets: $31.80. Cash or Check only. The shelter is as 510 N. Willow St. Bringing four pets or more? Hospital book fair to help scholarship fund

The Central Peninsula Hospital Auxiliary Book Fair takes place March 28 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and March 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Denali Room at CPH. All proceeds go to the Auxiliary Scholarship Fund to support local students.

Keen Eye birders meet

The Keen Eye Peninsula birder group meets March 20, at Marlow's On The Kenai. Hosts are Ken and Judy Marlow. There will be a short business meeting, then share pictures members have taken, with hints, techniques and adventures from the amateur bird photographer.
