FAIRBANKS (AP) -- A Galena man was arrested over the weekend for allegedly assaulting a witness in his brother's felony case.

Archie E. Wholecheese, 44, threw a full can of beer at the woman, striking her in the nose at the Yukon Inn sometime between 3:30 a.m. and 4 a.m. Saturday, according to the criminal complaint.

Wholecheese was arrested and is charged with interference with official proceedings and two counts of fourth-degree assault. The second count involves a man who ducked to avoid the flying can, the complaint says.

The complaint states that a witness to the alleged assault told troopers Wholecheese had said he would hurt the woman and another witness in the brother's case if anything happened to his brother, Larry Wholecheese, 45.

In November, Larry Wholecheese held authorities at bay for nearly 12 hours after they went to his home to interview him on allegations that he sexually abused a 12-year-old girl. After surrendering, he was charged with first-degree sexual assault of a minor, first-degree escape and third-degree assault.
