Soldotna mayor to speak at Alliance meeting

The Alliance Kenai chapter will meet at Paradisos at noon Tuesday. Soldotna mayor Ken Lancaster will give an update on the pipeline terminus. Cost to attend the meeting is $11. R.S.V.P. to (907) 563-2226 or fax 561-8870.

Public health nurse to visit communities

The public health nurse will visit the following locations:

Ninilchik Clinic, Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Nikolaevsk School, Thursday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

CIRCAC to host committee meeting

Cook Inlet Regional Citizens Advisory Council has scheduled a 10 a.m. meeting Friday of the Prevention, Response, Operations and Safety Committee. The public is welcome to attend. For agenda, directions or more information, call 283-7222.

Preschool plans garage sale

Kenai Cooperative Preschool, 818 Cook St., next to the Kenai Fine Arts Center, is having a garage sale Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Donations will be taken Thursday after noon.

The preschool also is hosting an introductory session in raising a thinking child by Lisa Schmitter on March 29 from 7 to 9 p.m. For more information, call Natasha, 283-0878.

Blood drive scheduled

The Blood Bank of Alaska, Kenai Peninsula Chapter, in conjunction with the Kenai Lions Club will have a Kenai Community Blood Drive on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m., at the Kenai Elks Club. Donors are encouraged to drink plenty of caffeine-free liquid and eat a good meal before donating.

Scholarship applications available

The Kenai Borough Employees Association scholarship committee is accepting applications for three $500 scholarships. Scholarships are available to all 2000 borough graduates, including public, private and home schools.

Applications and instructions are available from any borough high school counselor's office or at the information desk at the Borough Building in Soldotna. Applications must be delivered or postmarked by March 31. Applications can be mailed to or dropped of at the Kenai Borough Employees Association, 144 N. Binkley St., Soldotna, AK 99669, Attn: Scholarship Committee.

Agriculture scholarships deadline April 1

Commitment to Agriculture Scholarship Program was created to financially assist 100 high school seniors in 50 states in their college agriculture studies. Applications are available at Cad-Re in Soldotna. The deadline is April 1.
