Putting-on-the-Ritz show successful, despite low turnout

The Nikiski Cook Inlet Lions Club would like to say a heartfelt "thank you" to the following people and businesses who helped us put on "Putting on the Ritz." Without the following people this fund-raising project would not have happened:

The contestants: Ms. Ritz 2002, Jim Heim; second place, John Curran; third place, Richard Dominick, Raymond Hensley, Brian Walden, Phil Hill and Eddie Curran.

Volunteers; Debbie Wells, Mary Gilliam, Jim Wilson, Terri Stickler, Dustin Culbreth, Micah Rogers, Amy Cutsforth, Marsha and Kathlynn Payton, Orrin Bates, Wes, Garrett and Jackson Dominick, Alecia and Shayna Mullins, Marjorie

Holmes, Deni Humphrey, Bonnie Bates, Linda Payton, Tom and Romayne Hindman, Bob Harrison, Bonnie Veatch-Bates and Barbara Dominick.

The following businesses were a tremendous help: KSRM Radio, the Peninsula Clarion- Beth

Jones, Joan Hansen and Mavis Blazy-Lancaster, Country Foods, Williams Express, Sheraton Anchorage, Era Aviation, the new Aspen Hotel, Louie's, Katmai, Malstons, Jay C's DJ service, Regal Foods, DC Sounds, Nikiski Senior Center, 4D Carpet One, Peninsula Moose Family Center and the American Legion. If I have left anyone out, I would like to thank them also.

Even though the spectator turnout was low, I believe due to the basketball tournament, the project was a success. The contestants put on a great show, and the Prime Rib dinner cooked by the Kitchen Crew, lead by Jim Wilson, was spectacular.

If we do the project again in the future, we will be looking at a different time of year, so as to not conflict with the local sport programs. Thanks to all the generous people who turned out to support our project.
