ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A raven knocked out power in downtown Anchorage and an adjacent neighborhood when it struck an overhead electrical line.
The outage Tuesday lasted about 35 minutes, according to Gary Fife, a spokesman for Municipal Light & Power. He said the raven died after it struck a line near downtown about 1:35 p.m.
A large portion of the downtown business district and the Government Hill neighborhood to the north lost power, Fife said.
Among the affected utility customers were City Hall and several large businesses and institutions such as Nordstrom and the Anchorage Museum of History and Art.
Crews repaired the equipment damage and got power restored at 2:10 p.m.
