Disabled American Veterans meeting tonight

The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 5 will meet today at 6 p.m. at the old NAPA building on the Kenai Spur Highway behind the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center. All veterans are welcome. For more information, call Glenn at 283-4359.

KDLL board to meet

KDLL's board of directors will meet today at 7 p.m. at the KDLL studio in the Economic Development District Building, three miles north of Kenai on the Kenai Spur Highway. The public is invited to attend.

Builders association meeting tonight

The Kenai Peninsula Builder's Association will hold its March membership meeting today at 6:30 p.m. at Mykel's Restaurant in Soldotna.

Guest speakers will be Dan Fauske, CEO for Alaska Housing Finance Corporation, and John Bitney, legislative liaison for AHFC. For more information, call 283-8071.

Blizzard affects blood supply

Due to bad weather conditions last week, the Blood Bank of Alaska has an urgent need for blood donations. The Kenai Peninsula chapter of the Blood Bank of Alaska is located in the Blazy Mall in Soldotna. For more information on how to make a donation, call the blood bank at 260-5672 or 252-0345.

Second birch syrup workshop planned

The Kenai Peninsula Resource Conservation and Development District will hold a birch syrup tapping and processing workshop from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture building on Kalifornsky Beach Road. Participants will learn birch syrup tapping and processing techniques. The workshop is free of charge and limited to 25 participants. For more information or to preregister, call 283-7493 ext. 106.

Area writers collection now available

A collection of the work presented by writers at the Central Peninsula Writer's Night last week is now available at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center. Copies of the book, which features 17 stories, essays, memoirs and poems, can be purchased for $5 each. Proceeds go to the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center and the Friends of the Kenai Community Library.

Fair association potluck planned

The spring membership meeting and potluck for the Kenai Peninsula State Fair Association will be held March 26 at 6 p.m. at the community hall in Ninilchik. The meeting will follow the potluck. Wear your favorite Hawaiian shirt and bring a dish to pass. Call 567-3670 for more information.

Swimming lessons offered

Swimming lessons will be offered at the Soldotna High School pool starting March 26 at 6 p.m. Lessons are Tuesdays and Thursdays. Preregistration is required. For more information, call the pool office at 262-7419.

Boys and Girls Club to host soccer clinic

The Kenai Boys and Girls Club will hold an indoor soccer referee clinic for anyone age 14 or older who is interested in being a referee for the club's spring indoor soccer league. The clinic will be held March 30 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the club gym. Bring a whistle and be prepared to referee.

Domestic violence education seminar to be held

The Women's Resource and Crisis Center is offering a domestic violence education seminar Monday evenings in April from 4 until 5:30 p.m. The class will be held at Kenai Peninsula College, room 132. Classes are open to the public. For more information, call the WRCC at 283-9479.
