Stand up, citizens of the Kenai Peninsula Borough! We are being led to tax slaughter by the school district administration via the Board of Education and the Borough Assembly.
We have plenty of money in the school budget to fund cocurricular activities. They know this is a crucial part of K-12 education and they are pulling your heartstrings by threatening to cut these funds.
Here are the facts.
We are spending $94,929,846 for next year for 9,456 students. Do the math. That is over $10,000 or $1,100 per month per student. Surely this is enough.
What we need is more academic education for our money, not more money for the schools.
Don't be fooled again. Vote "no" on mail-in ballot Proposition No. 1.
